This post is in no way directed at any one person. This is simply new guidance on this.
Please make every effort to not drop anything metal on the floor. This includes dumbbells, kettlebells, and barbells with no bumper plates on them. The main reason for this post is simply for safety, but it is also extremely hard on the equipment to be dropped over and over. Dumbbells and kettlebells are odd shapes, they can and do bounce into you. This can cause injury and the risk is unnessary. They are also made of cast iron and can and do break. Our barbells are designed to be dropped with a bumper plate on them. Without a bumper plate they are also at risk of being damaged. I understand that these items occasionally slip, but lets make sure that we don’t drop on purpose.
